Getting On and Off Equipment
Taking precautionary measures while mounting and dismounting operating equipment can help prevent injuries and keep the site safer. Today’s Safety Saturday moment goes over how to properly get on and off equipment.
Heavy equipment is a necessity on construction job sites, and knowing the hazards and how to interact with them safely is an important part of working with and around them. Only mount and dismount stationary equipment, and face the equipment as you climb up and down. Use the handrails, holds, and steps, and only wear footwear that will provide support and traction as you get on or off. Check the handholds and steps for mud or anything else that may make them slippery or hard to hold onto.
Until next time, from all of us at the W. L. French Safety Department, stay safe out there.
