Avoid Taking Shortcuts

The faster way is rarely the safest way to complete the job. Today’s Safety Saturday moment discusses the importance of avoiding shortcuts.

Taking shortcuts on job sites can often increase risk exposure and lead to accidents. Shortcuts workers may take are using tools improperly, removing safeguards, neglecting to wear PPE, rushing during tasks, and ignoring near misses. Though it takes a little more time to work safely, these practices were developed based on past incidents that have occurred and are in place to protect you. Hold yourself and those around you to a high standard. A little extra time is a small price to pay for safety.

Until next time, from all of us at the W. L. French Safety Department, stay safe out there.
