Guardrail Systems
Whether it’s a high ledge or a deep trench, it’s important to protect workers on site from exposed ledges that can lead to falls. Today’s Safety Saturday moment talks about guardrail systems.
When workers are exposed to an unprotected ledge greater than six feet, guardrails must be used to prevent falls. A proper guardrail system is composed of a top rail, mid-rail, and toeboard that are tall and strong enough to support a worker who may slip and fall by accident. It’s important to examine guardrails often and replace them quickly if any defects are found.
Until next time, from all of us at the W. L. French Safety Department, stay safe out there.
