Safety Saturday

Chainsaw Use

Chainsaws are a common and helpful tool found frequently on sites, but it’s important to exercise caution whenever they are present. Today’s Safety Saturday moment goes over chainsaw use.

There are important steps that must be followed at all times to safely operate a chainsaw. Before using, always review the operator’s instructions and inspect the chainsaw for defects, chain tightness, and to make sure the blade is sharp. Wear all personal protective equipment and when cutting, keep the saw away from your body and anything that could be caught in the rotating parts. Make sure what you are cutting is secured and keep it away from your refueling station- even when the saw is off, make sure it has cooled before refueling.

Until next time, from all of us at the W. L. French Safety Department, stay safe out there.
